Message from Our President – March 2021

Dear NUCA of Metro DC Members and Community:

Spring is in the air, and NUCA of Metro DC is busy! As we transition from a cold, bleak winter, the promise of spring brings opportunity!

While 2020 was a very difficult year, the utility contracting industry as a whole rose to the challenge and continued to work on projects of all types and sizes, while keeping our workers safe. I want to congratulate our members – Anchor Construction, Garney Construction, Blueridge of DC – who won Top Jobs awards at the NUCA National convention last month. A special recognition goes to Dan Buckley for his Ditchdigger of the Year award!

This coming season is shaping up to be quite busy, with the resumption of in-person events, new webinars, and active advocacy with local legislatures, agencies and utility owners. Your involvement is a key factor in our success. We want to work on your pain points, to advocate for changes in laws and policies that are important to you. Join our Government Relations committee, or give us a call to share your current concerns. Mark your calendars for May 26 to participate in Washington Summit, again virtual this year, to meet with our Senators and Congressional Representatives to share the importance of infrastructure investment and other issues that affect all NUCA members.

I am thankful that I can say – I look forward to seeing you soon at our upcoming in-person events!

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay strong

Jamie Doll
